From the Surface Pro to the Surface Book and Laptop, Microsoft has entered the hardware market in a big way. Not content to be one of the also-rans their tech has been innovative and impressive with incredible thought in design; truly the windows fan now has an answer when looking for an Apple alternative. Now, we’ve got the Surface Studio at Techscheme, the front-line answer to an all-in-one desktop. We’ll run through what makes it so special here, but remember, buying at Techscheme means savings of up to 12% and being able to spread the cost over up to three years.

Studio Design

First off, let’s just say that the Studio looks incredible. A minimalist, chrome look and super thin display with barely any bezel that means it should look at home anywhere you decide to set it up. That’s impressive. The 28-inch PixelSense LCD touchscreen is a marvel; an aspect ratio of 3:2 and a resolution of 4500×3000 pixels create not just a natural feeling yet magnificent display to view from, but to use as well.

This is a brilliant set up for digital artists, Microsoft fans will already know of their brilliance when it comes to creating truly sensitive, production grade screens for drawing and writing from the Surface Book or Pro 4 and that continues here and it’s usable thanks to the Studio’s Zero Gravity Hinge. That’s right, you can swing the screen down in one easy motion to create a drafting table from your screen, again, it’s perfect for artists, but you can also use it to navigate a wonderful touchscreen PC.

You’ll get the Surface Pen with the Studio, but you may also want to pick up the Surface Dial separately which can change settings, flip through programs and zoom in or out on projects intuitively.

Under the Surface

When it comes to tech specs, the Surface Studio pulls no punches. It’s got an Intel Core i7 processor, 32GB of RAM and a 2TB Hybrid Hard Drive at top spec. The way it uses them pumps out more power and speed than even the latest iMac while the GF GTX 980M graphics on the surface should mean that you can play the latest games in full resolution.

It’s an incredible, premium device that should pose you no problems in whatever task you take on and you’ll find yourself future-proofed thanks to the high-quality design and specs. Gaming requirements can accelerate quickly, so you may be stuck there, but that’s not what this all-in-one PC is for.

Designers, illustrators, photographers, videographers and artists will find the Surface Studio a willing and ready participant in their work and short of building your own PC rig there’s nothing out there on the market right now that can compete, even among the dedicated drawing tablets.
