The iPad Pro range was Apple’s way of entering the hybrid market; powerful tablets able to deliver laptop-like functionality. The last wave is still solidly able to compete in that marketplace, but Apple has never been one to rest on its laurels. The latest iPad Pros are here and they pack a punch, with a new-design 10.5-inch model as well as an improved and updated 12.9-inch, here at Techscheme we’ve taken the time to run you through them. We’ll also gently suggest that our savings of up to 12% (of RRP), might make us the perfect place to pick up your new Pro.

iPad Pro 12.9-inch

We’ll start with the upgrade on the previous large Pro. Design wise, there’s not much that’s different, the lines, the size, the colours show very little change compared to the excellent 12.9-inch Pro’s build, although Apple has managed to shave off some of the weight so it should be a little easier to carry around.

The display has been improved, with the jump from 60Hz to 120Hz effectively doubling the frame rate and new Apple ProMotion software providing a dynamically adjustable refresh rate as well as an overall boost to the refresh rate in general. Apple is also promising a 30% boost to processor performance as well as 40% faster graphics for gameplay thanks to the new A10X Fusion chip. That’s one heck of a lot of power for a tablet.

There have been huge improvements to the cameras on the Pro, with the new tablet boasting the same setup as the excellent iPhone 7; namely, a front facing 7MP and rear main camera at 12MP. Apple has implemented second generation Touch ID for easier use and the battery life should serve you around 10 hours, which is impressive for such a powerful machine. You can pick up the iPad Pro 12.9-inch now at Techscheme with up to £124 savings from the RRP.

iPad Pro 10.5-inch

Next up is the real new boy in the iPad Pro range, the 10-5 inch. The design is beautiful, with that classic Apple look, and the new 10.5-inch screen fits snugly into the casing, eliminating some of the larger borders we see on other tablets. The build quality here is exceptional.

Speaking of that screen; it’s the standout feature of this iPad. Apple has worked hard on making it one of the best tablet screens you can find, and it really is. Improvements to the colour range, pixel density, brightness and frame rate through the new ProMotion tech make for an incredible user experience.

As a brand-new piece of kit, it’s incredibly powerful and you’ll be able to happily use this as a laptop substitute, but the iPad Pro feels like more an entertainment centre. The improvements to the screen, display and frame rate management make it great for watching HD movies, or playing games, while the audio volume and quality are one of the best there’s ever been on a tablet. Add to that the addition of those same cameras from the iPad Pro above and the iPhone 7 and what you have is a phenomenal tablet hybrid at a size and weight that’s comfortable. Brilliant.
