The Consumer Electronics Show 2017 is not long over, and if you’re anything like us here at Techscheme you’ve been giddy with excitement at all the cutting-edge tech being shown off. In particular we’ve seen some ingenious and quirky smart home and smart health gadgets that we’re looking forward to getting to play with and seeing how they’d combine with the fantastic home and health tech we stock. All products at Techscheme come with a fantastic 12% off from your National Insurance Contributions, thanks to our signature employee benefits.
Let’s start with the exciting world of Home Automation where we saw big announcements from friends of Techscheme, Elgato and D-Link. From Elgato, the producers of the Eve range of sensors designed to be used with Apple HomeKit, we saw the Eve Extend. It answers the occasional problem of Bluetooth range problems for people lucky enough to have a slightly larger home. Simply place the Extend at the edge of your range and it will extend it, to cover your whole home. It sets up in less than a minute and instantly pairs with your devices; we don’t know what the price will be, but Techscheme’s range of Eve sensors go from £35 to £70 at RRP (and we’ll save you between £4 and £8 on them), so we’d expect it to be affordable.
D-Link’s myDLink Home range of smart home kits are some of the best in the business, which is why we stock everything from their Door/Window Sensors to the Home Security Starter Kit (and can save you between £5 and £25 on the respectively). It’s good news for the security conscious myDLink Home user at CES, as they announced the Omna 180 HD. The 180 degree security camera has a built in microphone and speaker with two-way audio, night vision up to 16 feet and motion detection with motion triggered recording. All that and it also works with Apple HomeKit, it’s only just been announced, but already it looks like it’ll be one of the finest automated security cams around.

When it comes to smart health, for us, it’s all about top manufacturer Withings at this year’s CES. Withings racked up a number of honours at the CES awards thanks to their innovative and sometimes quirky tech. By quirky we mean the Kerastase Hair Coach powered by Withings, which is a Bluetooth-connected smart hairbrush. It might sound a bit silly on the surface, but there’s some incredible tech involved, including an accelerometer, gyroscope and microphone that team up to give you genuinely useful information on your hair health, as well as tips on how to improve it. It won’t be available until later this year, though, so you’ll just have to count your brush strokes.
Then there’s the Withings Thermo which is a smart temporal artery thermometer, a state-of-the-art, non-invasive and incredibly accurate thermometer with multiple user capability; so you can monitor the whole family during one of those nasty norovirus outbreaks. Withings are no strangers to the world of niche body monitors, with a range of products that include the incredibly accurate Blood Pressure Monitor, the in-depth body composition and heart health monitoring Smart Scales, and the sleep and environment monitoring Withings Aura Alarm Clock, all of which are available at Techscheme with significant savings.
|Withings Smart Scales||£149.95||£17.99|
|Withings Blood Pressure||£89.95||£10.79|
CES 2017 has been massively exciting, and there have been more products in more ranges than we could possibly ever get through in one sitting, one thing is for sure though – if you want the best tech, from the best manufacturers, with great savings – you can’t go wrong with Techscheme. If your employer hasn’t yet signed up, then neither you, nor they, can take advantage. Ask them to take a look.
